John Grimes Partnership are a significant local, geotechnical, environmental, transportation and engineering design consultancy established some 26 years ago. We have experience of working closely with clients, architects and planning consultants to provide specialist advice throughout the development and implementation of housing projects by assisting with the scoping, option feasibility, planning, detailed design and construction stages.

JGP have qualified staff to carry out environmental impact assessments, geotechnical investigations and transport statements and use this information to develop options/proposals that are cost effective and sensitive to local authority objectives and community needs. JGP use experienced partners to provide ecological, archaeological support and other specialist planning advice where required.

Our in-house expertise in geotechnical and engineering design provides considerable advantage in the design of ground retention slopes and foundations on difficult sites and JGP are also fully conversant with soil nailing and reinforced earth design and construction. We have considerable roads and drainage experience in dealing with local authorities regarding section 38, 278 and 104 agreements. We are fully conversant with flood study requirements and are able to carry out flood modelling and prepare flood risk assessments that are acceptable to the Environment Agency and Local Authorities. Our structures department is able to provide appropriate structural engineering services.

The geotechnical and environmental departments are managed by Associate Director, Andrea Robertson. The roads, traffic and drainage side is headed by Tim Swainson and Tom White. Tom deals with transport studies and traffic management issues. He has joined the practice within the last 12 months and was formerly the Chief Engineer with Plymouth City Council.
