John Grimes winning the Frederick Sherrell Award 2013
John Grimes has been awarded the Frederick Sherrell Career Recognition Award for 2013.
The award is presented to individuals who have made both a contribution to the understanding of the geology of SW England and the promotion of geology in the community.
The awards ceremony, organised by the South West branch of the Geological Society, will be held on 20th November at the Dolphin Hotel in Bovey Tracey.
John will also be presenting a talk at the event detailing the highlights of his career.
Previous recent winners of the award include Professor Peter Scott of Camborne School of Mines, Dr Deryck Laming and Dr Brian Leveridge, formerly of the British Geological Survey.
